- Majja13ExplorerI was hoping to see it with a little better payload, and MPG's. Had it accomplished this at a tad smaller price point it would be a perfect weekend warrior truck out here in the west where we are at altitude a lot. But at that price point I like the 2500 and 3500 's in both gas and Diesel all day long.
- BedlamModeratorI know that when I was looking at F150's and Tundra's in late 2004, my F250 was not that much more even though it had the diesel engine and much more payload and towing capacity.

That's their main problem.
Their aiming right at the "grocery-getter" camp, with the biggest and heaviest of them all.
But there's a lot of people who buy "grocery-getters" and just need the tow truck for their bass boat. And want to have a "Cummins" !!
You guys kind of touched on what I am thinking about this truck-
It's somewhere between a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton but doesn't really shine anywhere. For the same price you can get a really capable 3/4 ton. For way less you can get a nearly as capable and as economical 1/2 ton. - brulazExplorer

I would not be able to reach over the side of the bed.
The interior was nice. Nothing seemed to wow me. - spoon059Explorer II

I think they made the truck too powerful and should have focussed on MPG.
The truck is a $38k truck in my mind and not a $58k truck.
My thoughts as well. For not much more than that price point I have a true HD truck with a massive and proven Cummins and about the same mileage. I have substantially more payload and trailer towing ability. I don't see a market for this truck. They will sell some... but my opinion (for what its worth...) is that they won't sell many. - fly-boyExplorerI think they made the truck too powerful and should have focussed on MPG.

One thing I did not like about this test was that they used a big gooseneck trailer...the trailer they used had dually tires under its deckover.
Maybe I am crazy, but I would think that a smaller gooseneck trailer in the GVWR around 10,000 lbs would have been more appropriate. I would imagine that a Titan XD owner who pulled a Gooseneck would go for a trailer in the 7,000 lb (car trailer) to 10,000 lb (equipment trailer) range. And not one with duallies under it.
Anyone have any idea at what the GTW is for the dually equipped equipment trailer they are pulling? 15-22k lbs GTW ish?
Thanks!

Well Nissan even has print ads out with an almost identical trailer, with a back hoe on it even!
That trailer as tested was within Nissan's published tow ratings, and that's why they added the ballast to the rear. To some extent, I think they are simply limited to the trailers they have access to. - BenKExplorer
- Didn't stick above the cab, so no frontal resistance to speak of
- Cinder Blocks behind the trailer rear axles
- Don't know enough about Goose-Neck setups...is this the first use for these tests?
Too many changes and wish they would dedicate two trailers for ALL tests
One a Fiver and the other tongued trailer
Both with same/similar frontal area
Both with the same PIN/Tongue weight for testing
Oh...that is for each class of TV...half ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton, etc and
again, best to use GVWR's than marketing badging
Still like Nissan over Toyota...and still prefer my full sized truck
and SUV...until Nissan makes a decent gasser full sized with +8.6K GVWR
and +7K rear GAWR...to my tastes - jerem0621Explorer IIOne thing I did not like about this test was that they used a big gooseneck trailer...the trailer they used had dually tires under its deckover.
