- Our two 7.3PSD diesels get an annual oil change using John Deere 50 Plus II oil. No additives ever used both oil and fuel and both still have original injectors with over 200k miles.
- Kevin_O_ExplorerI also use Power Service Diesel Kleen Additive. Usually add a little bit every other fill up..
In the Winter I switch to Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement + Centane Boost which prevents fuel gelling.. - marcsbigfoot20bExplorerMy 7.3 in my sig gets an additive custom mix.
1 dose of Optilube XPD, Diesel Kleen + Cetane, 1/2 quart synthetic Super Tec 2 stroke oil.
Truck runs great and makes less noise.
Of course on the 140 hp tune it does whistle a little. ;) - RAS43Explorer IIIThat study is 10 years old and means nothing today, IMO. Fuels have changed as have engines. All I use is an antigell additive in cold weather.

- fj12ryderExplorer IIII'd use exactly what you've been using. Why change something that works well?
- The_real_wild1ExplorerI use some in the fuel depending on temps. I add some more for winter fuel then anything. Anti gel and cetane boost as winter fuel will give you poor mileage compared to summer. In your area you probably don't need to add anything.
- nevadanickExplorerCummins doesnt recommend fuel additives except for anti-gel.

Sorry about that I ment add to fuel !
You might want to check in with one or two of the many Ford diesel forums.
I use fuel additives that Cummins recommends in my 5.9 engine however what my engines needs can vary from other Cummins owners in different temp zones or a host of other differences.
Do you buy fuel from one supplier or retailer.
Go to a ford dealer and buy the additive that Ford recommends for the older 7.3 engines.
Additives that worked for the 7.3 may not be compatible for the new 6.7 engine
I would also check out a few of the many Ford diesel websites.....and pay attention to what other 7.3 diesel owners use or say. The new gen diesel engine may not use the same type of fuel additives. - 2oldmanExplorer II
