- 4x4ordExplorer IIIWe never overload our trucks. Just load what fits.
- hone_eagleExplorerRules!
there are no rules here we are trying to accomplish something
- Thomas Edision - JnJnKatiebugExplorerGrowing up on a farm in Arkansas my dad always said "Don't worry about the mules son, just load the wagon. We can always hitch up a couple more mules."
- BB_TXNomadWe live in a semi rural area just outside a rapidly growing town. And see both farmers/ranchers with large round hay bails hanging on hay spikes off the back of severely sagging pickups and contractors with overloaded pickup beds or heavily loaded trailers again sagging the rear of their trucks. And of course, there is the occasional TT or 5er on a less than adequate truck, also sagging. Just normal everyday sights.
- patriotgruntExplorerI guess so when I think about it. My dad always overloaded his truck with firewood or occasionally hauling a tractor and trailer too heavy for his truck. In fact, I know pulling a heavy trailer directly resulted in a transmission issue for a smaller truck we had.
- mowermechExplorer"Tradition"?
We don' know nothin' 'bout no "tradition".
we jus' do what needs to be done.
There are two question to ask when the load is on the truck:
1. Will it move?
2. will it stop?
If the answer to both questions is "Yes!" you are good to go.
If the answer to either question is "No!", FIX IT!
Then you are good to go. - JIMNLINExplorer IIILOL....define over loading !!!
Out here its just a way of life.
load the 1/2 ton up with small square bales down to the bump stops......or carry a rick of 22" Red oak at 2800 lbs per rick.......or a pallet of sod at 2500 lbs per pallet......or a load of RR ties from the local farm and ranch store....or hook up the 12k flatbed trailer with the 8000 lb blue tractor/FEL/7' mower for the trip to custom mow 35 acres....or ETC/ETC.
Life goes on like it has since horses pulled our wagons. - jerem0621Explorer IIFirewood for sure!
I picked up some split firewood from this fella, I bought a Rick of wood from him. Being young and dumb I had no idea how much wood that was. He filled the bed of my truck up way past the brim, front to back and side to side. Then he told me that he threw some extra in there for me... I have no idea how much it weighed but it for sure unloaded the front axle quite a bit.
I also overloaded a Ram 1500 CC Hemi, Laramie longhorn, 4x4 on the test drive a few months ago. Three men and two teens over 200 lbs each... poor Ram didn't even realize it was overloaded. :D
Thanks!
Jeremiah - 1320FastbackExplorerGo to any job site in a big city and you will see overloaded f150s and ram 1500 all day long.
Painters with 9 millions gallons in the bed, tile guys with a pallet of 14" marble, roofers with 1200 rolls of felt, framers with 7,000 studs, you name it.
Edit: I may of exaggerated a little. - BedlamModeratorMost farm trucks I know are constantly being overloaded from the time they are bought to the time they towed out to the pasture to be used as spare parts.
