- westendExplorerThanks for serving!
- DutchmenSportExplorerWell, I most certenly wish you God-Speed on your trip to Korea. Times have changed so much since I was in the military. One advancement in technology is the Internet. Will you have access to the Internet? It sure would be nice if you can continue to access and give us updates of your "adventures" while you're there.
Let's hope you get stationed in the south part of the country because living like this really sucks: - Heavy_Metal_DocExplorerGood luck over there. At least you know what expect.
I only did one your there at Camp Kyle (now closed) in 94. My wife and I still joke about the $700 phone bill!
And as for moonlighting, I was young soldier with 2 kids back then, so I always had something going on to supplement Uncle Sams paycheck - half the people I worked with at the part time jobs where also military. I never got down to only having one job 'till I got out....the biggest thing I miss from those days it the large amounts of leave time. Hard to get that much PTO in the civilian workforce. - panamacamper1ExplorerLol yes im in the military but you know being in that our pay keeps us just out of reach of WIC and assistance lol. Even after 19 years. I moonlighted at leos to help with camping trips and supplies.
This will be my second tour in korea so I know what to expect. My unit is stored on base and my wife will drive our tv around. She will check on our tt since she doesnt work far from where it will be. It just sucks because I submmited my retirement papers and they were turned down. When I asked why I was told I couldnt retire while on orders. Thats how I found out I was going to korea. BS, thank you branch manager. - Iraqvet05Explorer

x2 Aside from my tour in the sand box, even an assignment south of Seoul was miserable. - DutchmenSportExplorerWell, I don't understand your post. At first I thought you might be in the military. I was in S. Korea from 1984-1985 (1st Brigade, 1/72 Armor Battalion). And after 12 months was stationed at Fort Belvoir, VA, and lived in Manassas / Woodbridge / and Fort Belvoir (Peterson loop).
Then I looked back at some of your older posts and see you posed several months ago that you work for Leos Vacation center in Odenton, MD. (I looked that up on the internet, it's an RV dealership --- sweet!) But, now I'm confused?
Why are you going to S. Korea? Are you military working a "moonshine job"? And now you're rotating to Korea for the next 12 months? That is, if they still do unacompanied 12 month "tours" there?
Whatever you mean by "wheel of misery", I think I can identify with that. The most MISERABLE year of my life was when I was stationed in Korea for that 12 months.
EDIT: I just caught that "pcs" ... you're military.
So, new question? How did you "wing it" being employed on a second job and in the military too? That takes a lot of coordination! - path1ExplorerSure will, will this be just your TT or will you also have to store your tow rig? Many things come into play with a year storage. Generator for instance, should be winterized also? Any elec at storage place or totally exposed to weather? You gonna catch the "freedom bird" 1/2 way through so you can check on things back here? (Just reading into long term storage and things maybe you could do to save some $$ down the road)
