The only Tekonsha brake controller that would require "syncing" (or pairing) is the Prodigy RF but it's part number is 90250 so if this isn't what you're talking about it would be helpful if you would clarify just what it is you have.
However, if what you in fact have is a problem getting a Prodigy RF hand held unit to sync with the power box mounted on the trailer one common problem that causes this is if the vehicle in question has a bulb out system. If so, the solution is to use another vehicle that does not have this system to pair the two units together ... once paired the two units should work fine with your truck. If this still doesn't do it and you're positive your installation is correct give Tekonsha tech support a call. There are also quite a few YouTube videos describing the Tekonsha RF unit.
