I don't think there would be a huge difference in stability. Diesels like to be run hard. If you only tow 10% of the time I recommend the gasser. When i don't tow enough and just run around town I have problems with the emissions system. You have to run it hot enough long enough to burn the soot off of the O2 sensors.
