Now that said - I really don't enjoy driving the Cummins around town. It's a heavy lug and most of the time it has a problem getting out of its own way.
Really? I guess your other vehicle is sports car. I would not call the Ram CTD a rocket, but hardly think saying it can't get out of it's own way is accurate. If you want an example of not being able to get out of it's own way I'll be happy to let you drive my deuce and a half.
x2. My 12 CTD has no trouble getting up to speed. In fact I have to be careful when it's wet out. Granted it's a truck with a light rear end, but if I nut it at 35-45mph on a wet street it will break the rear end loose. I don't get how 340hp and 800lbs tq is slow. Try pushing a little harder on the gas pedal.
I'm not implying it isn't slow or powerful. However, it isn't has "punchy" of course as a 6.4L HEMI. In my opinion, the 6.4L HEMI 2500 is more fun to drive around town than the CTD. On the other hand the CTD kicks butt when towing.
JMO but it's probably in the software for the throttle response. My wifes Accord is really jumpy off the line. We test drove two cars before we bought the Accord. We test drove a Mazda6. It seemed like a dog of the line and it had a V6. The Accord has the 4cy.
You could always install one of these.
