What this tow test showed is how much earlier/sooner diesels make power. The problem is, the VM Motori motor tops out at 240HP, so once the EB get's up there in its HP range (beyond 240hp), it will pass. All towing requires horsepower. It's just that diesels build it up sooner. If you could hitch that 7,000 lbs trailer to a lamborghini aventador or La Ferrari, it would surely pass the F-150 (if it's transmission and remaining drivetrain doesn't shatter from the extra load).
Also, I do believe the VM Motori diesel has quite a bit left in it. It's only boosting 16psi max at stock, while the HD diesels are pushing pressures of around 30psi stock.
