Looking to up grade the Ol Skipper, with 3 little ones space is really lacking. Looking at the quad bunk rear queen slide models. Need to know the true measurement of the queen bed. I'm 6'2", so a 6'2" bed just doesn't quite work. I've looked at a Surveyor SV255RS and the bed is 76" so that works, tight but works. I also have looked at a Kodiak 26QS, bed is 74", doesn't work. I would like to know if anyone with an Outback 26RS or a KZ2505 Frontier/Sportsman/Outdoorsman, or Trail Cruiser TC26SB could measure the bed and let me know what size they really are.Thanks, Dan

Our 27 RSDS Outback, with a rear slide bed measures 74 inches long by 60 inches wide. The main bedroom queen is the same size. These are normally called a "short queen." You will need one marked full sized queen or residential Queen. Going to hard to find.

I'm 6'2" and "had" the SV255RS. Owned it the 8 years. It was tolerable but got to be a pain climbing over the wife to get out. She's claustrophobic so I had to sleep inside. I slept at an angle to accommodate the length of the bed.

Youre about an inch taller than me, I can just barely lie straight across out rear queen slide. Id say the 74x60 measurement from the Outback is about right for the KZ. Mine is in storage at the moment...if it was in the driveway Id have the tape measure out right now! My advice is to actually get inside one and lie down in the bed and see for yourself if you will fit.

Thanks Guys. Limited selection close to home to try out. I was pleasantly surprised by the Surveyor actually being 76" rather than the 74" in the brochure and the Kodiak was exactly 74 as listed. There's an Outback 28RSDS that I'm trying to go look at just to see the bunk as the trailer is a little bigger and more $$ than I'm looking for. I kinda like the look of the Outback floor plan better, but if the bed don't fit,it won't work. Most of the ones I can find are 12 - 20 hours away at best. So so far the Surveyor looks like a winner, just wish it had a couple more windows in the front bunk...........

. Suggest looking for TT that has Queen with lots of foot space clearance. If factory short RV queen, simply remove the short 75" mattress and replace with normal "house" queen = which is 80". To support the extra 5", simply lay down a cut sheet of 5/8" plywood. Round its corners with a jig saw and put longer mattress on it. If wondering, I did this upgrade on my 2006 Jayco FBS and that extra 5" (or so) works great. Worked in my 2006 Jayco…

I have a 2007 Coachman Captiva 265EX which has the same layout as an Outback with the slide out midget queen bed in the back of the trailer. Mine is 75" wide... a whole 3/4" wider than yours. I am 6'3", I can sleep in the tiny Queen but prefer more room. I bought a 4" memory foam King which is 75" wide (For some reason is it 1" narrower than an inner spring King).

I plan on putting a piece of 3/8" birch plywood 74 3/4" wide in the bottom of the "slide out" that I can slide in when the "slide out" is slid out allowing me to use the full length of the King. The plywood will slide into the living area of the trailer 20" blocking off one side of the dinette when it is slid into the trailer. I plan on having a 75" x ~20" piece of plywood hinged at the back of the "slide in" plywood. So when the "slide in" plywood is pushed all the way into the trailer slide out the memory foam mattress will bend at the back making a back rest at the back of the trailer slide out.

It sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is. I am currently making the slides for under the plywood. I was going to use some heavy duty bottom mount drawer slides but they were actually too thin to clear some of the slide hardware from the trailer slide out. Instead I am making my own "T" tracks out of some hardwood.

Anyway my plan is for a King in the rear with a side by side sleeping arrangement instead of the current crawl over mini-queen bed sleeping arrangement. In the evenings when we are watching TV or what ever we will leave the King Mattress fully in the "slide out" so someone can sit in the dinette and the couch isn't partially blocked. Then we will pull the King mattress into the living area of the trailer when it is time for bed... or atleast time for the kids to go to bed.

Just to update this old thread, we found one and brought her home last night.
2003 Outback 26RS. Needs a little TLC, but dry and solid. Rear slide measures 76 1/4", so I fit :D Everyone is happy and really like the brightness of the white Outback interior. Can't wait to get her all cleaned up a go camping.

Thanks BuffaloDan. Yes I have seen that the bunk area is raised on the KZ. I figured if I found one of those for the right price, when the time came with some creative remodeling I could move the tank over and open up some floor space, or at least just make that 1st step come further into the bunk.

Dano- one thing I should have mentioned with regard to the Frontier 2505- the front bunk area floor is much higher than the rest of the Frontier's floor. That is because KZ placed the fresh water tank under the floor where there is a huuuuge storage area beneath the bunks. Having all that storage is great, but it severely cuts down the headroom in the front bunk area. My oldest daughter is 16 now and is 5'3". She cannot stand upright in the front bunk area anymore. Not so with the Outbacks. Definitely something to consider....

Our Jayco X213 is 72X74 King slide. I'm 6'1" and my toes are at the edge, so I fix that by sleeping more at an angle. The wife hates that! :D

My Kodiak 240KSSL would almost fit your requirements, its under 30 ft, but a little over the 5K weight, mine is around 5200 lbs plus gear etc. Also might be a little harder to find in your budget.

I'm 6 ft and my feet come to near the end of the bed, but since it a king size and you sleep with your head to the back, there is lots of room to lay a little side ways.

Yeah the king rear slide would be nice, all the ones I've seen so far are out of the budget. I don't want to go to a 30+ ft trailer to get quad bunks and a queen bed. Want to keep length to 27 or less and dry weight to 5000 or less so loaded weight is 6000 or less. The 07 Surveyor we looked at is looking better and better.....

I would suggest looking at the rear king slide models where you sleep head to the back of the slide.
I'm the same height and was SOOOOOO glad KZ came out with the king slide when we were looking in '08. No climbing over DW to get out, although it's a little shimmy to slide out of....not a big deal. Most comfortable be I've slept in in a RV....we switched to a front queen bedroom style TT and it feels squishy in comparison.

I tried to fit on one of the rear queens where you sleep across the width of the trailer....just couldn't see it happening.
