- Nick_RExplorermy 2013 Silverado has it. Just remember to turn on the elevated idle after about a minute of running it will idle at about 1000 rpms to warm up faster. This truck warms up far faster than my 2006 ever did. It would not warm up until it was driven, not so with my 2013. The glow plugs on the newer ones don't stay on very long anyway so not much to worry about there.

Ok one other question I get conflicting answers to...
With the truck still plugged in (block heater) is it sfe to start the truck then unplug the block heater? or must the block heater be unplugged first then start the truck?
Either way works fine without damage.
I always unplug first, that way I don't forget the cord attached up front and drag/ruin it while driving around. - goukcatsExplorerFYI...I walked outside 1 day to discover my truck engine running. After a "what the h***"; I realized I had been working inside with the keys in my jean pockets. Fortunately it had only been running about 5 minutes.

I put viper alarms with remote starts on my fleet, and they all start from a keyfob or smartphone. As far as the diesels, if it is cold enough for the truck to high idle, in the 4 or 5 minutes between the time I start it and get in it, it gets up to about 100 degrees coolant temp, not enough for heat, but enough to drive without an egg under your foot.

I didn't think a remote start option would be very useful to me, and now I almost use it daily.
I felt exactly the same. Now I use it all the time to cool down the AC here in the desert. - I didn't think a remote start option would be very useful to me, and now I almost use it daily.

The thing I don't like about the remote start is the long idle time that people do.A lot of wasted fuel and improper warm up as a rule.
Ha ha and true. My neighbor warms up his truck longer then his drive to work. Just does not want to be cold when he gets in it. His drive is a mile....
I remote start my truck in the morning, put my dress shirt on, grab my coat, kiss the wife, kiss the kid, and pat the dog. Then walk out and drive :) Love having the remote start, it turns the heated seats and heated steering wheel on, and cranks the defrost and heat. On my Ram it will go into high idle to warm up faster. - thebudmanExplorer

Mine does too. It's called "my wife".
