- wilber1ExplorerMy 011 Ram came with it. Nice but don't use it a lot. Don't like the idea of idling these DPF trucks for very long. Rather use the block heater if possible. As last poster said, the seat warmers are probably the biggest bonus.
- APTExplorerThe only purpose I see for remote starting a diesel is if the vehicle also turns on the seat warmers. My 2011 Suburban does this, if temp below about 40* and started remotely, the front seat heaters automatically turn on. But a diesel at idle produces so little heat in the 10 minutes it is running.
- esfd243ExplorerOur 2012 D/A has a factory remote start. Only issues I have is I wanted to have a longer delay for cold weather starting to let the "wait to start" warm up longer.

The thing I don't like about the remote start is the long idle time that people do.A lot of wasted fuel and improper warm up as a rule.
An LML Duramax will only allow 10 minutes of run time with a remote start before it shuts down.
You can remote start it one more time for an additional 10 minutes, but after that you have to start it with a key in the ignition.
Thats exactly what I mean. You are not doing your diesel a favor,it needs to be driven to warm up properly, what does the manual say?
Lets not forget using remote start in the summer to cool the truck. - aclayExplorerMy 2012 has remote start, I use it almost every day
- notruffinitExplorerHad an aftermarket unit on my '03 Duramax and my '11 Cummins has a factory remote starter. Had no problems with either. In Minnesota, they come in very handy in the winter because I can start my truck from my building at lunch. It will run 20 to 30 minutes and shut down. When time to go home it always starts, even when the temp stays below 0.

- powderman426ExplorerMy friend bought a 2013 Ram and it can be started or stopped not only by being in range, but over the internet with his cell phone. Makes it nice if someone steals it. I dont think ford or chevy has that, but then who would want to steal one of those anyway.:B
