- NorskemanExplorerI ordered a LTZ in 2011. Use it all the time in the winter. Do about a 3-4 minute warm up.
Have the
HEATER ENG
K05 Engine block heater - - plugged into a timer set for 1.5 hours when the temps get below 20 deg F.
LOCK CONTROL, ENTRY
AP3 - Remote Vehicle Start
1LZ - - LTZ package - mayo30ExplorerThe thing I don't like about the remote start is the long idle time that people do.A lot of wasted fuel and improper warm up as a rule.
- chevorExplorerBoth my trucks have it. 2013, and 2010

Get a viper remote start and alarm .
Can start it from your smart phone mile away.
very good
You can do the same through the factory Onstar although I've never understood why you would want to start you truck from so far away.
My 2012 Duramax came with factory remote start on the key fob. Its nice on a diesel when its cold out. THey take about 2x compared to a gas motor to get up to temp.
A nice option I have on my new Ford is the built in electric heater element in the cab heater that gives you instant cab heat until the regular heater warms up. It has sure come in handy lately with the single digit temps. - Miles_AwayExplorerYou can purchase the remote start as a kit. You will also need to purchase new key fobs with the remote start button. Your dealer can order a kit, fobs and install it for less that $500. Your old fobs will still work to lock & unlock the doors because they use the same ignition code, but they will not remote start the truck.

The only limitation I've heard of is that it has to be an automatic. I intended to have autostart on my Dodge 2500 but it's a manual.
Not quite true. I used to have a F-150 with stick shift. I had a remote starter on that truck. You had to put the trans in neutral and set the parking brake and push a button on the remote start before you turned it off. If you didn't push the button before turning it off, it wouldn't turn on. That is the safety mechanism that it used to ensure the operator didn't accidentally leave it in gear when it was turned off. It was kind of a hassle though. - lakeside013104ExplorerMy 2011 Ford F-350 6.7 diesel has remote start on it, installed from the factory and it works great. Today after sitting in the 4 degree F temperature all day it started with a simple push of a button on the key fob. Great device.
Lakeside - mguayExplorerMine has it too!
