Retro fit jacks?

Hi all
We had 11'6. Grizzly it was beast of a.camper at 11'6.
We may have found. 2002 adventure 891 kg.almost. 1000# lighter then the grizzly. The only thing is hydraulic jacks I am not huge fan.I think screw jacks are safer, may be imposed wrong.I was wondering what route we could take to upgrade, and has anyone done this.thanks clay

  • It can be unless you're into that kind of stuff...

If you can measure the hole spacing on yours vs. the jacks you want to install, you may find that you got lucky.
  • Sounds like a real pain, I just don't like hydraulic jacks. Perhaps I can learn to get along with them :)love my new camper adventure 100ws perfect weight 891 kg fits nice on my truck
  • Going from one brand of jack to another, it is likely that the bolt holes on the mounting brackets will be completely different and won't line up. That will mean either drilling new holes in the brackets on the camper and/or jack, or replacing the brackets on the camper with the correct ones for the jacks you buy.

Caveats to drilling holes is that if they are too close to an existing hole they will be impossible to drill and may weaken the bracket.

Caveats to replacing the brackets on the camper body are getting the old bracket off, as it is likely well-caulked in place, filling in old holes that don't line up with the new brackets, drilling the new holes, possibly fishing hardware in tight spaces inside the camper, and sealing up around the bracket again so you don't get water intrusion.
  • This off topic for anyone looking in,the tag on my camper states
Camper mass is 891 kg maximum when it contains standard equipment.
109 like of water 18 kg bottle gas 140 like refrigerator.
So does that mean that weight would be 891 kg (2000#)with these items or before these items?
  • Oh I was also wondering if just a screw jack option may be good.idea
