- tsetsafExplorer IIIAfter multiple emails I finally just called them. They have agreed to send me a new bag but reiterated that it is not a design defect. While I disagree all I really care about is getting the bag replaced.
Based upon my experience the conclusion is that Riderite offers a worthless warranty that they will only begrudgingly honor if you become loud and annoying. - Dave_H_MExplorer IImy thoughts are kinda with the dodge buy, I really cannot envision where it is leaking out the air.
- dodge_guyExplorer IIKeep on it! if it is a defect, they should take care of a customer. from the response it sounds like they are trying to get out of it!
Can you post the same pics of what you sent them? I`m curious. - tsetsafExplorer IIIFollow-up on this. So I went through the Riderite.com Warranty Claim submission and submitted all the information. Here is the email response I received:
"Thanks for the pictures but I’m sorry to say that we will not be able to cover this under warranty. The reason is because we are only allowed to cover manufacturer defects and this is not a sign of one. The upper bracket has a hole that this pin goes in and this happens when either the pin is not installed in the hole, or it is installed in the hole but the nut on top of the bag is not tight enough and it allows the bag to rattle and rotate the pin out of the hole. In either case the pin is not in the hole and is now under the upper bracket and it beats on the pin until it starts to leak and eventually pushes it in. The only way to fix this is too buy another bag."
The response was unsigned and the return email address was rrtech@fsip.com . So I have no idea who this is, what their role in the company is or anything.
Basically they took the route of "not us" it's "you" like so many "lifetime warranty" products in this world.
Frankly I am pissed. I have babied these things and am religious on keeping them properly aired at all times, jacking from under the axle for tire changes, etc etc. Plus the pin was properly placed in the relief and all the attaching nuts were tight (I have knuckle scars to prove it from getting the bag out).
Obviously I am not sitting on this and will keep pushing. Will let you know how it turns out. - TankcarExplorerHi. I don.t know where you are. But! I was able to find replacement Air Bladders (Bag's) through Rick's RV in El Cajon, Ca.
- carringbExplorerI've had great warranty service from Firestone. I had a bag rupture on a long trip, and Firestone overnighted a replacement to me at the place I was staying.
- BedlamModeratorIf the lines are not properly cut at a clean 90 degree angle they will eventually leak through the push fitting. I installed my own bags and had to reterminate one of my lines after a year due to poor work on my part the first time. I had plenty of line and was able cut off the end and reinsert the line. No problems with leaks after that repair.
I did find the bolts holding together the 2-part upper bracket were weak when I installed the bags. One snapped and I could feel another one stretch as I was torquing it. I replaced all eight of those bolts with grade 5 hardware and didn't have any problems after installation. - wclement1248ExplorerOP. I am having the same problem with mine. Air is leaking through the push in connection on top. The shop that installed mine said it was the first time they had seen this problem. They are replacing connect with a new one.
- cummins2014ExplorerHere is what I am seeing with Firestone ,Limited Lifetime warranty . With Airlift ,Lifetime Warranty, and a 60 day satisfaction warranty. It looks like the Airlift is the better way to go as far as warranty's go.
- cummins2014ExplorerHaving only bought one set of airbags, and they were firestone ,one of the bags had a small pin hole in the rubber when installed. It was replaced thru where I bought it with no problem. No other problems after that. This was several years ago. Traded the truck for a new one a year ago , and the airbags were working fine then
I'm looking into getting airbags for my new truck, Airlift has a lifetime warranty, haven't checked on the new Firestone bags yet. May go Airlift on the complete system. My previous truck had the Airlift compressor system, and the Firestone bags. The Airlift air system was trouble free.
