Shopping for New Ford

I've never used X-Plan, but I've been suspicious that it will lock you from further negotiating. X-Plan is right at invoice. Dealers like it because it reduces their price from Ford. It would be quick and easy negotiation for both purchaser and dealer. However, one "may" be able to negotiate better. I got my 2012 F-350 for $1400 below invoice because a sales manager was very rude and the owner wanted to make sure I left happy. After the $3750 of rebates, I was ecstatic. If past history is any indication Ford will start offering big rebates by May even in this new model year.

That sounds like a very sweet truck! I had to quickly leave the dealership after looking at the identical truck to yours but in black.

But better than canned beer???? I don't know about that! Definitely not better than cold bottled beer!! :B

Got any friends or relatives that work for Ford ? They can get you X Plan pricing. Fixed. Usually better than any deal you can get from a dealer.

I've used Brien Motors in Everett, WA to buy a few Ford work vehicles. They have a no-haggle pricing policy, at least with their fleet sales department that I always go through.

Have you tried autotrader.com or cars.com. Sort the selections by lowest price and see what's out there. Sometimes you'll at least be able to see which dealers are really wanting to move their trucks by advertising 10k off MSRP without even talking to them.

If you're a Costco member, you can get a no-haggle, decent deal at one of their dealers. Used it on the wife's Chevy traverse and got about $700 below invoice along with the $1000 back Chevy was offering at the time.

For Ford, if you want a "no Haggle" price, you can easily get that.

Just need to get hooked up with a "X PLAN" pin.

X plan is a fixed price which is slightly more than Employee Pricing (A PLAN).

Plenty of ways to get a PIN, where you work at may be a X plan member, check with your work HR, some different special interest groups offer X plan if you become a "member" and you can buy a min of 100 shares of Ford stock (must own for 6 months before able to get PIN).

You can also ask on Fords website (Blue Ovals) and a employee might be able to give you one of their extra PINs..

PLEASE READ THEIR "STICKIES" in the link above on how the X plan works and how to request a PIN!

Once you have a PIN, you can go to Ford's websites and check the X plan prices on the vehicles also, there is a specific Ford website for Ford Partners (IE X plan members)..

You won't save a ton of money over haggling but you do get a few advantages.. The last vehicle I bought, I ordered with X plan, takes about 6-8 weeks typically, my price was locked in on the day I ordered.. The day of delivery Ford had pushed a price increase of $500 through!.. I STILL paid the original price quoted at the time of ordering!

X plan also limits and or caps MANY fees.. Which CAN save you a lot of money..

Today almost all dealers have a internet sales group that will sell you a vehicle over the internet and even deliver it to you. When I purchased my Super Duty I got the price off the dealers web sight so there was no surprises.

for 2017 trucks, so I was hoping someone had a dealer to refer me to who does the same for Fords. I have used car buying services before, and I may well do it again this time.

Odds are you'll probably find much more competitive pricing on GM and Ram trucks.

Like BB_TX mentioned earlier, substantial discounts on the new aluminum-body, 2017 Ford Super-Duties are going to be hard to come by. They'll be demanding a premium price for at least 6-months or so. Plus, for some, there's the concern about potential 1st year bugs and issues that go with any new generational release.
