Showing off camping at home.

I lived on the Gulf Coast back in the 80's. I don't mind visiting but would not move back - My tolerance for humidity or extreme temperatures has waned and I seek more moderate climates today.

That's what we did last year.
Have been to Pensacola (running away from Irma) 13 months ago and that is how the place looks today.
But I love swimming and when you like to stay wet for 2 hr daily, you really need triple digits temperatures.

You are getting into a desirable season where you live. Once the the temperatures jump back up to triple digits, you might get the itch to go camping somewhere where the air conditioner does not have run constantly.

We just finished what may be the the last trek through the mountains before snow hits (we actually drove through it at 4000' on 10/3). We are now adjusting our camping to locations closer to sea level or more coastal.

I bought the house 1.5 years ago and I am still busy with the projects.
And retiring from home remodeling, I am qualified but- for a change, I enjoy to do what I want and the way that I want (not that I did not like my paid job, but it does make the difference).
We have Lake Mead 10 miles away, but with low water it is turning into big swamp and not really enjoyable. My boat got wet twice this season.
For green we look over the fence. Neighbours spend fortune on water bill, but have green Paradise with palms and green lawns (live lawns, not plastic what become popular in Vegas).

Very nice but I would still want to go camp and see some "green" for a change.
We camp just to "not be at home". If I'm home I can always find something that needs to be done. We will go to the lake 20 miles from home just to not be home.

I can truly identify with you sentiments. I purchased a house 5 years ago and have some amazing views- the land is worth more than the house. It is a fixer-upper and needs a lot of help, weekends have me doing renovations instead of camping. Am in the process of finishing the new deck to take advantage of the views.
