(Snow) Chain Requirements per CalTrans
While search for something else, I stumbled upon the link, Chain Requirements. Among other things, it has a FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS section. I find it very clear, and easy to read.
I think we TC'ers are more likely to be caught in snow, due to our RV of choice. Many of us pull trailers. While the link is pretty clear on pulling trailers, I saw nothing about flat towing a car. Towing laws for towing a vehicle are very different than towing a trailer.
I have not found the answer for the following question.
1 Flat towing a vehicle with brakes on the towed. The FAQ says required on trailers with brakes, but does not mention Toweds.
I also read; Are cable chains permitted?
Usually. They are permitted for passenger cars and light trucks under virtually all conditions.
They did not define what are considered light trucks. I kinda think maybe our truck with campers might consider not using cable chains. Looks like a maybe okay and maybe not.
