I was kinda figuring the same thing. I have the Super Hitch. The 42" extension at 600 lbs. But I want to weld the bike rack on top of the extension which would eliminate weight from a factory carrier.
THEN hook up my boat!!!! :B
Bike at 230 plus rack, very most 50# equals 280#. Boat trailer tongue is 250# for a total of 530#.
Only thing holding me back is my back!!! Don't have a forklift to stick it in the truck and my back won't be fixed till this Fall!!!! :(
Not sure if I follow your whole description, but did you see my motorcycle rack at the expo DJ? I don't have any handy pictures, but I had an extension built that has a lower tube and an upper tube. The upper tube is just below the height of the bumper on my Lance and inserted in that goes my motorcycle rack. The lower tube is then still free for a regular drawbar and can still tow a trailer. The whole piece looks like a rectangle of receiver tubing, with criss-crossed plate steel diagonally from corner to corner inside. I wouldn't want to tow my 10K dump trailer and skidsteer with the bike above, but I wouldn't worry about a 2-3K trailer.
On the other hand, I think what you are describing is more like a seperate "extension" just for the bike rack above the trailer extension? On mine, both are a part of the same receiver and both add to reguler tongue weight on it.
I hear you on loading it. My welding friend is working on replacing the rack I have so that it will tilt to make it easier to load the bike. It is way too high up and the ramp is way too steep at the moment. I need a longer ramp, a tilt for the rack, or both :)
PS: The rack above in the link looks pretty nice, and very cheap. The big drawback on that one is the length of the ramp to load is 38". Not nearly long enough if you want to raise it up very high off the ground.
Yes, all I am talking about is taking the 42" Super Truss and making a MC carrier out of it. Then I could stick the stinger in the end for my boat.
