It's too bad the EV manufacturers couldn't just agree on one type of charger for all vehicles.
I guess as long as adapters are available it's not too much of an inconvenience?
Yep. I agree. Lots of manufacturers from lots of continents. One up and coming manufacturer named Aptera is using the Tesla connector and Tesla is open to others using it but no takers so far. My guess is the standards Tesla sets for charging time are quite high so as to avoid congestion at Superchargers....but that’s just my guess.- gboppExplorerIt's too bad the EV manufacturers couldn't just agree on one type of charger for all vehicles.

Thank you, it did help.
I found a picture in my tickle trunk of a DCFC that we used in palm springs area. This is an EVGO with both a Chademo connector and a CCS connector. Now imaging this with a third "hose" with a Tesla connector. A tesla can still use these without the third "hose" but the Tesla driver would have to buy the adapter. We have one. They are about 400 bucks...and they are bulky. But they are handy. However now with EVGO adding a Tesla connector we would not have to haul it out of the trunk.
Here is a picture of wifeys car (named Jarvis) with the chademo adapter on it charging. Like I say...bulky...but better than nothing and much faster than AC charging. Where we live there are 10 times as many chademo/CCS locations as there is Tesla Superchargers so kinda handy on road trips that are off the beaten track. Anyway, with EVGO including the Tesla "hose" it gets rid of this need....and I'll have a 400 dollar paperweight if everybody else follows EVGO's path. Doh. :)
And on edit. This is EVGO's trial attempt at including Tesla "hoses". They took a Tesla Chademo adaptor like ours and attached to the cabinet and then attached a Tesla "hose' to it.
Hopefully this latest development won't limit the charge rate to 50 KW like the adapter does. Many of the EVGO's are 100 KW plus. Then again, a slower charge can be handy when you are shopping.- Yosemite_Sam1ExplorerI've not been paying attention to these 3rd party service providers but I wonder if there are included in the run up of EV involved companies.

I'm ignorant. Do all EV's use a different charger?
No...sort of. There are three standards in currently in use in North America for DC fast charging. (Everyone uses the same standard for L2 and L1 AC charging). The three standards are
CCS: Most non Tesla EV’s that don’t come from Japan.
Chademo: Japanese EV’s.
Tesla: Tesla only. To note, Tesla owners can buy adapters to use either of the above.
Most non Tesla fast chargers have CCS and Chademo connectors, and now some also have Tesla connectors. Many feel that Chademo will fade away over the next decade although China is a big user of a form of Chademo.
Hope that helps.- gboppExplorerI'm ignorant. Do all EV's use a different charger?
- More charging coverage every day. Although it will be interesting if Tesla has the guts to put a few CCS connectors at a supercharger space. Charging fee could be at a slight premium.
