- dodge_guyExplorer IIThe first hot day and you'll wish you had it! I couldn't imagine not having one. We were in Myrtle Beach and it was windy and hot (mid 90's). I left it in the majority of that stay, I kept thinking how terrible it would be without one at all! I will always have one, and the longer the better. Get the longest one you can possibly fit. Ours is 21ft long.
BTW, if all the mechanicals are good.....you can get just the material. - Johno02ExplorerI like our manual awning, mostly because I can stake it down, and reduce the risk of wind damage. If we are going to stay for a few days, I usually detach the legs from the side, and place them upright on the ground. With firmly attached straps, we can survive most normal weather. Still watch the weather reports, and pull it in if doubtful.

- bsbeedubExplorerWe also use our awning all the time. The trailer just looks "funny" or "unfinished" in my opinion, without it. We enjoy the sun too but for some reason if I sit in it too long it turns my skin an odd red color. We also love to sit underneath it when it's raining. When we sit out in the rain with no awning, for some reason the rain gets us wet. Lol!
There are times when it's very windy that we do not put it out for fear of damage. It just seems that we've forgotten something when the awning is stowed.
AWN! - turbojimmyExplorerDefinitely awn.
My brother bought a new one from an eBay seller that also sells just the fabric. They ship freight and you can save a lot of money on shipping if you work with them on finding a carrier with a break-bulk/hub near you where you can pick it up. My brother paid to have it delivered to his door, and it was still about 2/3 the cost of getting one locally.
His trailer didn't have one at all, so it was a complete installation. Instructions were clear and it was easy to install. I may be replacing mine this coming season from the same company (shadeproinc). Mine still works, but has seen better days - it's starting to tear from the roller. - AirForceAnglerExplorerWouldn't be without our awning. After stabilizing the trailer, the first thing I set up is a table under the awning with an electric 2-burner stove that we do most of our cooking on along with an iPod radio for tunes. It also becomes the bar at night.
- krobbeExplorerAwn.
- NaioExplorer IIWithout an awning, I'd have to stay inside on rainy days. That's too cramped!

Have any of you gone without an awning without regrets?
I would leave the awning hardware and just cut off the fabric if it looks bad. - OasisbobExplorerWe camp almost year round and live in Oregon. Need I say more? Maybe you can rebuild your existing awning cheaper. If it is skin you need try J.C. Whitney.
