- myredracerExplorer IIOther than the amount of tongue weight a TV can handle, there is no info. anywhere on the internet to indicate a downside to being over 15%.
10 - 15% is not a "recommended" range, it's what it normally ends up being when all loaded up. Brochure dry tongue weights are typically close to 10% and always go up. Being below 10% is not good. Average appears to be around 12 - 13% based on anecdotal reports.
Good info. here: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/27485781/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1 - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorerThe more tongue weight you have the better it will tow. As long as you are not over on any of your truck spec's leave it.
- CampingN_C_ExplorerI'm at 16% and it's not an issue for me.

+1 - IvylogExplorer IIIThe OP does not have a HD truck, it's probably a F150 and the trailer is not a TH, it's a 225RBS TT that weighs less than 5000 lbs.
OP, you worry when you do not have enough tongue weight so I would go with a WD hitch if you are putting too much weight on your rear axle. It would make it easier if you posted what you have in your signature even though you have not picked it up yet. - ChooChooMan74ExplorerIf you are not overloading anything (including coupler capacity, mine is stamped witb it), just leave it. Probably tows better.
- HuntindogExplorerMy TW is heavy too. My truck and hitch can handle it, and I like it that way. You have a 2500HD DA pictured in you sig. You probably don't have a problem with some extra TW.
- RinconVTRExplorerMore than 15% tongue weight on any loaded TT is far too much.Toy haulers are always on the heavy end of the tolerance, but balance out when loaded.
It may be true that if you have a HD truck of some sort, and your towing experience is good, then change nothing. But I have a feeling that's not the case, or you would not be here asking.
The lack of detail is killing any accurate response. - TucsonJimExplorer IINo sway? No sag on the tow vehicle? Not overloaded? Then do nothing.
