I can't read enough of these comments! Everything is SO good! Keep the info flowing! I hate to give up on my idea of buying a Tubdra to tow a vehicle! Haven't decided on either the vehicle it the TT at this point! Still calculating to make the Tundra work! Thank you all!
As long as you understand and willing to take whatever the simple math
comes out to...
edit...forgot to mention first you have to decide
if you believe in the ratings or not
If not, then do whatever and note that if there is any warranty left
the dealer 'might' deny it if they find you over loaded
If yes, then learn how the system works. The diagram below is who
the whole ratings system looks like in graphical format.
Find the specifications for the Tundra you want. You will need either
the VIN to ask the dealer to look up, or these:
- GVWR
- FGAWR
- RGAWR
- GCWR
- MTWR
- Curb
- After market tire/wheels...need the rev's per mile vs stock rev's per mile
- Diff ratio
- Actual weight this has a * and explain down a bit
Then make sure it is not suspension lifted, or other modifications
that reduces the ratings
If you don't want to weigh it, or don't have it yet...use the maximum
ratings as if they (TV & Trailer) are both at maximum conditions
GCWR will be tough to find, as it is not popular and many say not
important, but to me very...here is why and hope you see what that
'rating' matters
Then using the actual weight of the Tundra, or use it's GVWR as that
is the most it is rated for. That should include the tongue/PIN
and hitch system weight
Posted before, but here is the diagram showing the relationships and
for you to plug in the weights to figure how much your true max trailer
weight is for 'that' Tundra you have the GCWR for
