I agree that weights would be helpful in getting this figured out. There are many posts on here about how to weigh, but basically you need to find a public scale. CAT scales are popular but you can also go to a landfill, many moving companies, maybe even a grain silo or batch plant.
With weight distribution engaged weigh the front axle of truck, the rear axle of truck, the total weight of truck and trailer if possible, and then just the axles of the trailer. You are basically pulling through slowly and stopping a each axle hits the scale.
Next disconnect the weight distribution and weigh the front axle of truck, rear axle of truck, and all axles of the trailer.
Now if possible disconnect the trailer and measure just the truck alone. front axle, then rear axle.
What is the attitude of the trailer when you have the weight distribution installed? Is the front of the trailer higher or lower than the rear?
Does your weight distribution use chains to connect to the trailer tongue or something else? If using chains which link are you using to connect to the snap hooks?
Can you possible post a picture of the hitch all hooked up?
Do you have a separate sway bar that you need to connect when you hitch up?
