Funny you say that - I've driven past a couple of different places, in southern Indiana and Ohio, with expanses of pickup beds (all white) just sitting there. I'd guess the companies do conversions of some sort and there was no delete option for the trucks they were based on. If someone needs a white pickup bed, they're probably available cheap.

Really? It took me less than 5 minutes to find a regular cab Silverado 2500HD on a dealers lot for less than $40k in Rochester, New York.
NEW 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD
Yeah, with a bunch of BS rebates and discounts that cancel each other out and/or the buyer does not qualify for...
List price is $39,320. By the time you're done with tax, tags, licensing, you're pushing $43K out the door.
REGARDLESS, $40K is ridiculous for a new pickup truck. $35K is ridiculous for a new pickup truck. $30K is ridiculous for a new pickup truck.
How much should a new truck cost in your world? And what kind of truck should it be for however much you think it's worth?
I'm not disagreeing with the fact that they are expensive, but relatively speaking they were just as expensive in the past.
And you get more than you used to. Just use 10 years as an example.
Sticker on my 07 was around $50k. A comparable Mega today stickers for about $64k
To get mine to perform like a new one, asthetics and noise aside I have or wood have to add:
Exhaust brake $2k installed
Tune/programmer:$500
Bluetooth touch stereo backup cam and all that goes with it. :$1000 min
Other interior niceties not on the 07 :$1-2k
Better brakes: $1000min
All the fix it parts to get rest of the drivetrain comparable : Another couple thousand.
Point being, factor in all that and inflation and the cost in today's dollar is getting real close. The good economy pushes the rest of the demanded price. - ShinerBockExplorer

Have you ever tried to work on your reading comprehension issues? Nothing at that link about "can be performed at the dealer." It's a factory option. WTH is a dealer going to do with a box if they removed one, ship it back to the factory for credit?
Sure. As of 2015, all GM full size trucks have that as an option that can be performed at the dealer.

Hey look, here is another one for under $40k(and it has actual pictures)
Van Bortel Chevrolet $35,545
and another....
Doyle Chevrolet $38,260
and another....
Doan Chevrolet $36,701
Although, when I worked for a Ford dealer, we took beds off all the time on fleet trucks. It just depended on what the customer wanted and what we had. - SidecarFlipExplorer III

Yeah and it also amazes me how much people care about what others do with their own money. Last I checked we live in the US and not communist Russia. If someone one wants to buy a decked out F450 diesel just to haul a few sacks of groceries then why is it anyone else's business or concern?
Every wonder if, by some crazy turn of fate, the unregulated and irresponsible corporations that loan people money to buys useless things (say, GM or Lehman Brothers...) goes bankrupt?
And even crazier, the government uses people's hard earned tax dollars to save mega-corporations, in a one-way capitalism?

Wow. You sure showed me. Yep, I just pulled a picture from a Google search for "chevy silverado pickup box delete." But, I didn't claim it was the same vehicle, just said "this is closer," so the incorrect assumption is on you.
And, a "long bed" model affects the frame rails, it doesn't imply there's a box. If you took even the time you spent trying to prove me wrong to simply click on the "window sticker" link, you'd see that specific truck has the "Pickup box delete" option. Sure, it's a long bed/long box model, but the box was deleted as an option. That deletes the spare tire, too. Those are usually special ordered for commercial or fleet sales, not the retail lot. Somehow, the dealer got stuck with one (looks like someone may have ordered it to put a salt spreader on the back, it has snow plow prep), so they're heavily discounting it to get rid of it. Heck, if it was a canceled order, some guy's deposit may be subsidizing that discount.
Wanna take another shot?

The picture you just posted here is from a completely different website called www.truckandbody.com blog. It also appears from the file description(since I can see that when I quote it) that it is a pic from 2014. Note that the body of the truck in your picture is also the older 2014 body style and not a 2017 body style. So you basically pulled some random picture off the internet just to win your case.
If you actually look at the description of the vehicle I posted it specifically states "long box" in the description and not "cab and chassis". Also, it clearly states "long bed" in the VIN decoder below as well.
VIN: 1GB0KUEG4HZ279844
So what is your next excuse?

Wait for the economy to take a dump again. Be lotsa nice used trucks for cheap.
Last time around we bought a new truck, boat, house and 160ac all from people who couldn't afford their overpriced luxury stuff.
Hoping to hold out for the next one for another new truck lol.
I will happen, make book on it.
I bought my 1997 F 350 XLT 4 door 4 wheel drive diesel in 97 and paid OTD, 26.5 and I thought that was a lot. Still have it and it runs fine and looks sharp. In fact, it will be showing up on one of those Rock Auto magnetic stickie things, shortly. Interestingly, the CEO of Rock Auto is a Ford OBS fan too.

Pickups are getting scary expensive...
CONCUR !
Ford vehicles, in general usually come with 2 or 3 trim levels. F150s I believe have 5 !
Who needs/wants leather "seating surfaces" in a pickup anyway. (In case you don't know, the "seating surface" is pretty much just the front center of the 2 halves of the seat. Everything else is vinyl that matches the leather quite well !)
