Upper Stable Load spacer

2001 Ford F250, stock upper overload with StableLoads. The front one is hard on the leaf when the camper is on, the rear one just touches, and slaps the leaf when hitting bumps. So I made a couple spacers for the rear set out of 3/8.

Before

After

However I did call the local spring shop, and they sell a heavy duty upper overload leaf set (4 leaf) that replaces the stock ones. It also has a rubber pad on the end. It may be enough to remove the Stableloads and still have a heavier overload. I like this option because the ride unloaded will be the same.

No need to open up the main spring U-bolts when these are installed ;)

Would you mind sharing who makes it and part number. That's exactly what I need for my Ford.

    It's a Hellwig part 9703

I just took the truck for a drive without the camper and it rides just like before, as expected.

I will put the camper on in few days and report back.
  • Looks great. I like the idea of using the overload for more so the main spring pack keeps the same ride while empty.
  • Looks like Hellwig and I might be interested as well. My springs are a little tired.

Load it up and give us all a review. So this is another option besides SuperSprings, Airbags, etc...

  • Good deal. I might look into having them make some rears for me. Thanks!
  • Benz Spring in Portland. They'll make whatever you want. I ran their springs on the front of my old 97 Ford.
