Using a Stable Lift on a truck camper

I have been really thinking about getting a Stable Lift System for my next truck camper after seeing the video it has made me think twice. When it comes to wanting to take your truck camper off the truck and have it sit either on grass or gravel or a smooth service I have to wonder on the stability of the truck camper in all kinds of weather. This also considering having the truck camper lowered. Has anyone else used this Stable Lift System or just happy to be using the normal electric jacks ?

  • I have had mine since about 2005. I installed it myself, with no help. I replace hydraulic jacks with the Stable Lift. In times past, I posted several posts and provided several photos to dispel the myth it only worked on "either on grass or gravel or a smooth service".

For me, upgrading from hydraulic to Stable Lift is the only way to go. If I already had electric jacks I don't know if I would spend the money. Do I think the Stable Lift is better than four separate jack, yes.For real serious off road, it is questionable for many folks. You will loose about 2" of ground clearance if it is setup properly.

I can, and have written a lot on the Stable Lift. If you search, be sure to go to Advanced, and then in the Date Posted go to Archive.

  • We had a Stable-lift system on our TC and I can't say enough good things about it and the company and crew that builds and installs them. We ordered ours and had it installed locally (Atlanta at that time) by folks that didn't do a good job. It was usable but not entirely satisfactory. We were going out to Glacier the next summer anyway, so took it back to the company. They spent an entire day making it perfect and did not charge us anything. After that it was wonderful. We were in a bad storm in Kansas and put the lifts down (camper still on truck) and were steady as a rock while the RV's around us were lihaving a hard time. Unfortunately our TC did not hold up well and we needed to sell it. I advertised it on CL and it sold the first day to someone 100 miles away. The buyer was willing to give us the asking price, even though it had issues, because it had the Stable-lift already on it. lizzie
  • I have a 94 Skyline Weekender 850. I bought it used and it came with a stable-Lift. I did alot of research and decided It was the best lift for me. Also I saw one and talked to the owner on how he liked it. He said he would not owner anything else. With the camper on the ground the owner pushed on the side then the back of the camper with absolutely no movement. I camp a lot by myself and it is supper easy to take on and off. I did call the company for literature on the unit and they were very helpful. Hope this helps.
  • I've seen them in the wild. Every owner but one was very happy with the system. The one exception bought the camper with system previously installed incorrectly. The incorrectly installed system failed and the camper ended up on its side. It was not Stablelift's fault. I only mention it to be sure your prospective future system is installed correctly.

Stablelift was willing to work with the owner even though it wasn't their fault and the system was older. They had great customer service. In the end the owner went with manual jacks due to cost.
