- brulazExplorerCrikey, over $100/hr?
Had two good mobile repair guys in FL work on our trailer for less than $100, although one did charge a travel-to-site fee.
Up here in Ontario just had my trailer's shackles and spring bushings replaced for Can$95/hr but I supplied the parts as their shop was selling $3 grease seals for $13. - TerryallanExplorer IIHowever. when you Auto, or RV is broken. Their service is priceless.
- BedlamModeratorI used to fix TV's, radios and computers in my spare time until it was cheaper to buy new ones than pay someone to fix their current one. I don't see that happening with these trucks, but some of the lawn maintenance equipment is cheaper to replace than to repair.
I just fixed my 30 year old toaster... - HuckFinn410Explorerand this is why my son is pursuing a 4 year degree in Automotive Technology Management. Recent grads of the program are getting snapped up by Cummins and others at around $65k starting pay....more with OT. Being an auto tech is one job that will never get outsourced to another country.
- thomasmnileExplorerLocal FCA dealership charges $105/hr. The independent shop in Orlando I frequent charges $97.50/hr. And the independent shop has much better techs. They figured out the source of an electrical issue on my '05 Ram the FCA shop couldn't.
- bighatnohorseExplorer III asked the shop manager at Wilhelm Automotive in Cave Creek Arizona and was told $119. per hour (I've since forgotten the exact amount).
Any shop in a commercial space has a staggering rent to pay. - APTExplorerMy VW dealer charges $125/hr. My independent VW mechanic was $60/hr last summer.

Dealership and repair shops always seem to run around $100.00.
Albiet I am a huge fan of mobile RV repair for tow car, MH, and toad.....their rates per hour are way lower but you have to watch the greedy ones on what the 'trip charge' is. I.E what they are going to charge you just to come out 'on top' of the hourly rate.
A lot of them want $75 bucks for the trip charge.
A little OT but down here in Florida the dang handyman wants 70 bucks trip charge just to come to your house to work.
Boy I sure wish someone paid me every day for all those years to get up and drive to work. :R
I have a RV tech coming tomorrow. $75 trip charge and $88 per hour. He is upfront about his charges.
I used a large RV dealer in North Mississippi a few years back. Got into a big argument about their charges since they used book rate when it benefitted them and billed you by actual hours when it took longer than the book time. This dealer told me it took their service person 4 hours (@ $120 per hour) to remove a line of caulk along the top of the tub surround. He actually told me this with a straight face. - MNGeeks61ExplorerMore than I make per hour!!!
I haven't needed service on the Trailblazer lately, it is still under warranty though. Before that, I used a couple of local shops in Minneapolis and they charged anywhere from $50-80 per hour.
Dealer is about $120 per hour. - gboppExplorer

Maybe that's because they would land the the company helicopter behind the shop. :)
