I looked at the sticker on the door with the VIN, GAWR and GVWR. I expected it to include the available payload, but can't seem to find it.
My truck was built in 2004 (can't remember the month but will check when I get home). I bought it Jan. 2005. - kaydeejayExplorer

That's a tire loading chart.
Change the tires and it goes out the window.
The loading number does not change.
Treat this as two separate stickers - one for loading, one for tires. One does not depend on the other. (Unless you go with lower rated tires of course) - kaydeejayExplorer

That tire AND loading chart also lists the payload for the vehicle, which doesn't appear to be related to the tires very much at all on most half tons I've looked at.Old-Biscuit wrote:

IMO its a worthless number any way as its based on a GVWR payload which can cause a overload condition on certain configured trucks RAWR/tire load numbers
Legally the truck makers are required to placard the truck with the tire placard but it isn't used for any "legal weight carrying capacity" nor does road side enforcement use it. - rhagfoExplorer III
