If the limits are within the manufactures specifications what's the issue? Is it a "my stick is bigger than your stick," argument? I understand safety, that's why manufactures set limits which I'm within. I'm not opposed to upgrading to a bigger truck but the argument of sending out a boy to do a mans job doesn't make much sense if the "boy" is capable according to the manufacture. I appreciate your feedback but if its bei g towed within the limits I don't see much a valid argument to upgrade at this point...
As an owner of a tow vehicle that is a 1 ton diesel I agree with your statement 100%. If you're within factory specs you are good to go...
However, with one caveat. As long as the the factory specs you are referring to are the GVWR and GCVWR and NOT the "factory tow ratings" which are almost always garbage.
Remember, just because the engine can pull it doesn't mean the suspension can hold it. - APTExplorer

WELL PUT! This argument about half tons not being able to pull anything bigger than a lawn trailer drives me up the wall. I pull mine just fine.
Open your driver's door and look for how much payload you have where mine says 2051:
Then look for a sticker like this one on your receiver:
You have plenty of power as many half tons do. Air bags will mask the overloaded rear axle.
If you sold a 2013 dually for a half ton, then taking more depreciation re-upgrading might be acceptable to you if you go forward with this RV purchase and feel uncomfortable. - DarylSueExplorer

Agreed - TheColoradoanExplorerI went from a 2013 Ram 3500 Dually w/ Max Tow to my 2013 1500 and I love it... I can tow just about everything I need to, and still find parking downtown Denver which is hard to do with a big rig. I also enjoy my 16.5 Mpg average whereas my 3500 averaged maybe 11-12 on a good day.

- NinerBikesExplorerSending a boy out to do a Man's job. Don't endanger your fellow motorists on public roads, get the right tool for the job.
- TheColoradoanExplorerI do have airbags they seem to help. Krobbe, thanks for true advice I defiantly think your right and appreciate your feedback. I've thrown in every scenerio and its close but we should still be under weight. The 2500 has the same curb weight just a higher pay load which were under for now. Ill try it a few times and if it doesn't work ill upgrade to a bigger rig. Agreed its close.
