Why did you purchase a Ford? The wife and I have been looking at new 2017 Ford, Dodge and GMC dually diesels. It seems that a lot of people on the forums and others in general say, get the Dodge. I guess because of the Cummins engine and the upgraded Aisin transmission. My brother in law who is retired said that he mostly sees Dodges in RV parks these days.But, the Ford, just looking it over, seems to be put together better overall and the four door truck has more room in the back seat, it seems to us. Yes, the Ford is more money, but I want this truck to last long into retirement. The Ford seems like someone actually cared about the design and how it was put together. I don't like how the Ford has very little if no room to even put your hand in the engine area. Salesman told me that the service department usually just takes off the front end of the truck to do any work on a Ford because it is much easier that way. Did you purchase your truck from an auto broker or some other way to save?Still shopping.....looking for a nice used truck also. Charles

I've worked on both. So I own a ram/Cummins. Over A million miles on my last three combined with very few problems. If you don't mind paying a dealer to fix things then the Ford is a nice truck.

I bought used and there were three reasons why I got the Ford: 1. built-in brake controller (others didn't have this yet in the years I could afford) 2. Ford fenders, beds, and tailgates weren't rusted through like on the Rams (again, with the years I could afford) 3. The Duramax GMs were a LOT more expensive in the years I was looking at (had to get one with a zillion miles to be in my price ballpark)

BLASPHEMY I SAY!!! :B Seriously, all three make good trucks. It all comes down to personal preference for creature comforts and of course price. If you like the look and feel of the Ford then that is the truck for you. I would certainly like more bells and whistles on our Ram ctd but it is serving us very well so why fix what ain't broke.

I was a hard core Chevy owner from my first car in 1962 until 1987 when a Chevy salesman made me mad and caused me to look at Fords. Bought one and have owned nothing but since then for both me and the DW. Reliability has never been an issue with any vehicle I have ever owned, Chevy or Ford. Never a major repair with any. Dodge/Ram I just never particularly like the looks of, inside or out. But that just falls under personal preference.

In my opinion the 6.7 cummins and the Mega Cab are not necessarily a bonus either. Our 07 dodge DRW has the Mega Cab and I swear the back side behind the doors is a plastic material. It does have the 5.9 CTD which I consider a bonus over the 6.7 CTD.

I did not buy an extended warranty on my truck and I plan on keeping it much longer than 8 years. I firmly believe that it is not a matter of if but rather when a CP4 equipped truck experiences a catastrophic failure and I wanted nothing to do with it.

I love my Cummins 6.7L Megacab DRW! And the cab is definitely not plastic, Fish. :R. And do you really want to start comparing your 07 Dodge DRW Cummins 5.9L to a 2007 F350 6.0L?? ;)

I don't consider the Megacab a bonus at all since you can't get it with an 8' bed. Short bed trucks are useless to me. The regular quad cab of the Ram has much less rear seating space than the Ford.

As far as the rare CP4 failure, if it fails due to fuel contamination, it's an insurance claim pure and simple.

My cousin had to file a claim for bad fuel on his truck, they paid to replace his fuel system on his 99 Dodge 2500 5.9 24v.

Larger front suspension components
Larger cab with the 8' bed
Better integrated brake controller

Higher tow rating

The new Fords have a very good transmission in the torque shift as does RAM if you option for the Aisin HD transmission. All three of the latest vintage offerings are miles ahead of the 2005 RAM with a 48RE tranny. They are all 6 speeds now.

I didn't see 15 reasons why it's better. It's all opinions. Why would you want to buy at truck because someone else likes it? Makes no sense to me. Every company truck I have had has been a Ford except for two Chevys and you can see what I have in my siggy.

And I know a bunch of guys who work for Reliant Energy and their company trucks and most of their personal trucks are Super Duty's. And these guys work these Super Duty's company trucks very hard.
