Winegard antenna leak

I'm having trouble with my Winegard antenna leaking water around the crank on the ceiling of my TT. I have sealed the cable and boot area and it's still leaking. I removed the worm gear and I wanted to remove the gear housing and check the O-rings and inspect it. Does anyone know what size deep well socket is needed to remove the nut that's up in the ceiling? Has anyone else had problems with leaks and what did you do to solve the problem.
  • Thanks "Old-Biscuit" A 15/16" deep well socket did the trick. After cleaning everything up I can see that a new wave washer and o-ring are needed on the worm gear shaft and new o-ring under the housing. Also as mentioned I sealed the roof a year ago and I can see that there is too much sealant around the base. I'll shave some off to keep the water from pooling around the base. Thanks everyone for your help
  • Mine has leaked from time to time. Two things. Make sure there is a way for water to drain away from the housing. The last guy who sealed the roof put too much caulk around the base creating a pool. Then you have to lubricate the base of the unit. I used spray silicone lube around base. There there may be a removable plug near the base. Remove the plug and spray in there also.
  • if you repaired the boot and it still leaks startlooking for a seam leak the ant is like a low point drain.get a pitcher of water and poor over it until you find the leak
  • Is yours like This one?

(About 2:05 it shows you how to get the gears out and lubricate them.)

(On edit - very sorry, I mis-read this completely. I thought you were trying to get to the worm gear itself. You already got that. )
