Winnebago Micro Minnie 2106FBS vs Rockwood Mini Lite 2109S

After a 10 year hiatus from RVing we have decided to purchase a small TT. We've owned a pop-up, travel trailer and large 5th wheel in the past. Now it's just the two of us as the kids are grown. New trailer will be used mostly for weekend getaways although we are planning a month long trip at the end of may.

Looking for comments from those who either own these models or have constructive experience with either brand.

Thanks,
Don

  • One thing I failed to notice the other day was what brand of tires they're putting on the Minnies. Anybody had issues with whatever they're using? I prefer Goodyears, but that's because I've run them on everything for so many years before there were other brands. Some of the Chinese tires worry me from what I've seen and read about them.

That's all good news! Interesting that you looked at the two floorplans that caught our eye along with the 2401RG. In the smaller units, Winnebago seems to offer a better build quality than many we looked at. The 26RBSS had the bigger a/c and water heater added. We noticed the ceiling in the bedroom had connections for tv, but I didn't see a mounting spot identified. I assume they do some sort of smaller flip down TV. I would have liked a front doo too like the 2500FL, but oh well. I like having two doors.

I was told the backer plate is in the wall, but I don't know how that could be because the sliding door covers that area when open. I thought that I had seen a TV mounted in a unit in one of the online companies, and that TV was ceiling mounted. Yes, they are manufactured to slightly higher standards than most others. One small feature of note is how many manufacturers caulk all joints internal and external.

I don't want to barge in on the thread, but my wife and I are going back to towing after owning a motorhome for the last ten years and want to downsize. We are seriously looking at the Minnie Plus 26RBSS so any comments you have to offer about that would be welcome.

We are going on our first camping trip this coming weekend. We were going to buy the 2500FL, but got sold on the 26RBSS because of the extra space and large bathroom. So far, we love everything about it. It has enough storage space for almost any needs. A forward pass through that you can climb in. I kind of like the manifold for fresh water and everything but electrical that is located in the left side of the pass through. Nice power stabilizers, power jack etc. We were also sold because it has a nice entertainment system across from the couch and the dinette is located across from the kitchen. All stainless sinks, the kitchen sinks are square and deep, ceramic toilet and nice large shower. Ours has the upgraded AC and 10gal hot water heater. They are the only options available. I just recommend that you check them out, compare to others and make your decision. Ours hauls like a charm behind our Sierra 1500. Payload his huge with 8800# max and 15" wheels. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. There must be other owners on this site. Also, check out the Minnie owners Facebook page. There must be some owners over there that can also provide input.

  • We owned a Minnie 2101FBS that was the older version of the 2106. We loved the camper and just upgraded to the Minnie Plus 26RBSS. Our 2101 didn't last long at the dealer. 3 families were interested in it and it sold in less than a week. We bought the camper because of the quality of components and workmanship. One simple example : all seams and joints inside and outside are caulked with silicone. We also liked the cherry interior and layout. We had also looked at Bullet Premiers, but the Bullet did not come with a couch, only a dinette. We have enjoyed the camper for the past 3 years, but we take our grandchildren camping and needed a bit more room. It is tough to beat the quality construction. The camper towed like a dream behind our 2007 V-8 4Runner.
  • Bought the Rockwood Mini. Wife fell in love with the larger chassis - 8 ft versus 7 ft. wide.
Better layout for us with door in the back, superior counter space and materials. Larger fresh/grey/black tanks.

    Thanks for the replies.

  • Champ, I'm a fan of my 2015 Winniebago 2101DS but I'm not happy with the 2016 and 2017 reduction in size of the fresh water tank from 43 to 31 gallons. That 12 gallons is important if you dry camp. I have no opinion on going from 7.5 foot width to 7.
