The Associated Press

TIOGA, Pa. —

Police say a 77-year-old woman is dead after a camper trailer rolled over her while she and her husband were working on it at a central Pennsylvania campground.

The Williamsport Sun-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/18Vg6St ) the accident happened at the Cowanesque Lake Topkins Campground in Tioga County around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators say Alice Faye Erickson was working on the brakes of the camper trailer her husband was hauling with a truck. The brakes of the trailer came loose as she was lying on the ground and the vehicle ran her over.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

I live quite close to the family and from what I understand the couple were working to get one of the safety chains loose so they could drop the trailer.
Unfortunately the truck was left in neutral and when it started to roll forward with the camper attached the woman was knocked down and run over.
A fellow camper was quick to stop the truck or the man would also have been run over.

X2 on your explanation; you actually told us what happened. The media account left me scratching my head, saying, "huh? :h Either way, a tragedy............

Yes, makes more sense! the media reporting leaves a lot to be desired.

Still doesn`t make it any better though!

That would make more since than the way the article read. All I could imagine was a 77 YO lady lying on the ground working on the trailer while the husband stood by and handed her tools. Not trying to be funny, just the image I had

  • Very sad. She must have been a terrific person -- imagine a 77 year old lady crawling under a trailer to service the brakes!
  • Not to discount the tragedy, but this one makes you wonder???
