Why don't you come out here to the middle of Nevada and let us know how many AM/FM radio stations you can pick up? - vanderjwExplorerI have a Silverado crew cab and the XM antenna is far enough forward that I do not have any reception problems when my TC is on the truck. I live in Michigan and have no idea where the satelites are.

Around here there are plenty of places that you can pick up exactly 1 radio station on FM.
With the new "stealth" antennas on cars these days they pick up FM even worse than before. My wife's Buick has no visible antenna and the reception on FM is terrible.
OP,
I have my magnetic antenna mounted in the center of my hood back towards the wind shield. I leave it there and use it there all the time.
If I have the camper on and I go under a bridge while traveling north I will briefly loose the signal. Otherwise, it's solid. I guess if I moved it out to the front of the hood it would fix that but it's not that big a deal. 805gregg wrote:

Where is the connection located for the factory antenna? (on GMT900 trucks)
Mine is behind the glove box lid. I open the glove box up, then in the upper right corner there is a plastic tab that pushes in. That allows the glove box to drop down and gives me access to the XM radio box and the antenna plug. - dmaxpullerExplorer

Your TC over hang will definitely interfere, especially depending which direction you are traveling. I bought this magnetic antenna from Best Buy. When Im not using it I slap it on the underside of the hood and it stays put. When I load the camper, takes me less than a minute to unplug the factory antenna and plug in the auxillary antenna. Lift the hood, remove the antenna bug, and place it on the top of the hood.
Same as mine. Works great. But having a southern exposure sure helps. - Griffman2012ExplorerThanks again for the input Great site lots of valuable info

The satellites are too low on the horizon. Even in southern BC when there are mountains close by to the south of you it cuts in and out. These are my main travels, another reason I'm just letting the promotional offer expire.
