- Artum_SnowbirdExplorerGo a year old but with all the bells and whistles too for the same price. The diesel will not even notice the first year off it's clock.

After the Ecoboost you will not be happy with a NA gas engine!
Go with a diesel, I know you are a Ford man, as an X Ford man can I suggest you at least test drive a Ram. :)
I agree with this recommendation... Having said that I test drove a Super Duty and a Ram, kicked a GM tire, and I purchased the Super Duty.
Diesel of course! :W Awesome powertrain for pulling like no ones business. :B
OP,
I understand your logic... I was thinking the same thing and made the mistake going with .5 ton back in '98 with all the extras. What I should have done was purchased a bare bones truck with the diesel.- stickdogExplorerI wanted the diesel DW wanted the bling.
- RamTCExplorerThe upscaled interiors are not just bling, with only 3500 miles, I have 100 hrs of drive time, the gadgets makes it a bit more tolerable.

Diesel go with power and torque
Absolutely no question. You would regret it otherwise. - fla-gypsyExplorerNeither, I would go gas with a bigger rear gear and just a few options and keep the rest of the money in my pocket
- UnyalliExplorerBased on your rig I'd go with (and did) a nicely outfitted Lariat Boss 6.2L SD. When towing for hours on end it's nice to have the better interior and no need for Diesel with only 10000 to 12000 lbs. I have no regrets with my choice of gas over oil, truck has no problem pulling my rig even at altitude.

If you had to buy a SD/HD truck today, what would you choose... a loaded, leather gas model or a diesel with cloth and just a few basic gadgets? Assume similar price, which is what I am finding.
Gas, base model with no options except cruise control.
