Truck Camper Dually Jack Stabilizer Brace

VIDEO.   https://youtu.be/jVoX50eUdSc

I recently installed dually swing out jack brackets on the truck camper because we have upgraded from a 2000 F-250 with a 5.4 liter, to a 2006 F-550 6.0 liter Power Stroke Diesel. The dually brackets have introduced a lot of motion and sway to the jacks. The hinge of the swing out brackets has slop in their fit. that translates into a lot of instability in the front camper jack leg. The rear jacks are fine and are very stable because they have two attachment points. The front jacks rely only on the jack mount bracket alone. The brace I installed greatly reduces forward and backward motion which was the main problem. The jacks don't move nearly as much side to side and I'm not worried about that.

If you have noticed excessive motion with your truck camper swing out brackets, this could be a good safety solution for you. It took me about an hour to do each and it's not a difficult project

I keep them on the jacks in the swung up out of the way position all the time. I connect them to the camper bracket all the time, removing, loading, and storing. They work so well stabilizing the front jacks.

???? Strange question from an experienced TC owner.

I have never seen such witchcraft before, only time I have seen stabilizers is for units being used off the truck, and there's very few built to be used that way.  those on my camper would drive against the truck box so I was curious when he was using them as they would be unusable for unloading and loading on mine, and I have hydraulic jacks so they aren't usable off the camper either.

That's one of those "why have we not seen that before" inventions!  Great idea Jeff!

Thank you, glad it meets your experienced truck camper approval. A simple project with big benefit.

There are several different commercially available sway braces for TC jacks.
When we used to TC and stay in it with the camper up in the air sometimes, I’d just use a handful of ratchet straps. Less permanent solution but same outcome.

The ratchet strap would only work in one direction if the jack leg was moving away, it would tighten and stretch. If the motion of the jack leg is toward the camper, the strap would do nothing, it would gain slack and the leg could lean unrestricted.  That's why this setup is so good. It is a solid connection and doesn't allow motion away or toward. It holds the jack solidly in position. I do not need to worry about an excessive lean and possible collapse now.
