downhill to Seneca Rocks in WVa

should i consider going down this hill in first? I am towing a 5000 lb travel trailer behind a Chevy Trailblazer 5.3 v8 rated at 6200, with electric brakes on trailer.
  • Use whatever gear is necessary to keep your vehicle under control in the present conditions. No one but the driver will know what that is. I've driven on 33, if that's the road you're talking about, I can't imagine you would need to go below 2nd gear.
  • Are you talking about US33 from the east or west or 28/55 coming south from Petersburg? This is mountainous country. I don't own a TT but I would think that if a downward grade were more than 5%, I would slow down to 20-25mph and drop it into second. I would not do 1st unless you are going very slow. Probably 10 mph or less.
