Hurricane-Kanab-Page-Cameron

Have not been there in a couple of years, but when we were the roads around Kanab, Pipe Springs and some of Vermillion Cliffs were day to day. Blowing snow one day and completely melted the next.

Should be ok but watch the weather. Where is the "east" rim of the GC? If you mean NORTH rim it will most likely be closed.

The east rim is on the eastern end of the canyon around Cameron and takes in the area where the little Colorado River joins the Colorado River and is mostly on Reservation land.

My last trip between Kanab and Page was in May of 2008 and Hwy 89 nearly beat us to death. The seams in the highway were relentless. Constant pounding. Don't know if it's been improved since then or not. I was fairly new to driving a Class A, so maybe it was just me. Probably not an issue with your truck, though.

jwmll - I know now what you are speaking of. Have been there a few times. It is not, however, part of the Grand Canyon. Neat place to visit, however. I just had never heard the term east rim of the Grand Canyon and wondered if I was missing something.

It is considered an integral part of the Grand Canyon.

OK, if you say so. But the viewpoint of it, although quaint, is nothing like the "main" portion.

This discussion is making me chuckle. We did a "tour" of the Grand Canyon last Feb and went from east to west. There is a trading post in the middle of nowhere on the reservation between Cameron and the east gate. The tour guide pointed out the mini canyon behind the trading post that had been the site of where that guy walked the tight rope across the Grand Canyon for Discovery channel. She had watched it all being set up on her tours through there. Looks like I will watch the weather and road reports and decide in St George which way we go.
