The Tioga Pass Road through Yosemite National Park, Highway 120, will open for the season to bicyclists and pedestrians Wednesday and all vehicles beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday.
According to a news release from the National Forest Service:
There will be limited visitor services available from the Tioga Pass entrance station to Crane Flat. Tioga Road will open for bicycle and pedestrian users at 8:00 am Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
All visitors on the road are encouraged to use caution as there may be dirt, debris, and water flowing over sections of the road. Visitors are encouraged to keep an eye out for maintenance vehicles working on the roadway.
West’s super snowpack could be deadly summer hazard
There will be minimal services available along the Tioga Road for several weeks. There will be no drinking water. Visitors should use the vault and portable toilets located along the roadway to help protect water quality in the Tuolumne River watershed. - coolbreeze01ExplorerTioga Pass set to open 8AM 6/29/17 :C

Tioga Road
June 24, 2017
The Tioga Road remains closed to all vehicular traffic, including bicycles. Melting snow is causing water to run over the road in multiple locations, creating a safety hazard. The park is diligently working to ensure that adequate sanitation facilities are in place to meet visitor needs and to protect the water quality in the Tuolumne River watershed. The road will remain closed until the impacted power, communications, water and sewer systems are operational to meet the needs of park staff and visitors. There is no estimated opening date. The Tioga Road is closed to vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians from South Fork Bridge (6.5 miles east of Tuolumne Grove/NatureBridge in the Crane Flat area) to Tioga Pass. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorer06/19/2017

That rock slide kind of spoiled our Yosemite visit. At least we were able to spend 1 day in the NP. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerI hope these message help to prevent spoiled travel plans.

Caterpillar cuts down the slide by Washington State Dept of Transportation
WSDOT likes to show its snow clearing work on Flickr. For the deeper avalanche chutes, they use a bulldozer to cut snow down to a depth that the snow blower can handle.
I believe WA20 North Cascades is open, while Chinook Pass, east of Mt Rainier WA410 is still being cleared. - AllworthExplorer IILatest post on the NPS website says July 14th at the earliest
- profdant139Explorer III could be wrong (and often am), but I think that shot is taken right near the Tioga kiosk. And here is the "glass half full" view of the photo -- the snow appears to be only about five feet deep, and the snowplow crew has somehow made it to the kiosk!
I don't know if they arrived from the east or the west; but in either case, that is quite an achievement. I had heard that the road was destroyed in several places -- maybe things are not as bad as I had feared. - LaurenExplorerLast two posters on here............thank you for your service.
