After reading your profile, I would suggest joining a group like Coast to Coast, and they have a campground just north of LA, in a canyon, near a railroad, that will not bother you at night when you are living 1000 miles away and the RV is stored there.

There will be a yearly maintenance fee, and they normally have great storage facilities. Because they have a buy in fee, and you might lose that if you or your kids mis-behave or are caught stealing stuff, normally Coast to Coast campgrounds are fairly safe.

I would not recommend Long Beach, as the few places you might be able to get hookups are actually a couple of mobile home parks with a dozen or so parking spaces converted to RV sites, for full timers who can not afford anything better.

You might also check the Escapees park in Aguanga CA, it is about 15 miles east of Temecula. That is south of Riverside. They have a huge storage facility. You also buy in to a site, then can pick to stay there, or move to a storage area and let your site be rented to help cover some of the park maintenance fees, such as paving or electric bill for the clubhouse. It is a very safe park. You should be able to rent a site too, without buying in. However buying in might save overall, if you will be camping at various campgrounds around the country, or just to keep it in one location for years at a time.

IF you wanted the LA CA, then perhaps you will need to be specific about the part of LA, it is a 460 square mile city, with border cities having a population of well over 3 million people.

I would have suggested the Fairplex, LA county fairgrounds.

However they do not have storage.

If you wanted a area north of LA CA, then Lancaster has many places. To the east, then the fairplex listed above. To the south, Long Beach has a couple of places, but with real estate costing a million + per acre, chances of anyone running a 10 acre campground are slim, they are bought out and turned into condo's many years ago.
