- Doug33ExplorerI have not camped there, but driven through a few times to check it out. Seems like many of the sites are pretty small with little privacy. The pool area looked to be very nice. I am a huge train fan, but I wonder if I would get tired of the noise.

I guess we all have different tolerances. The Hershey CG is busy all season. The trains don't appear to have much of an effect on occupancy.
Plenty of campers seem to enjoy the CG even with the train.
We are enjoying the CG. Very clean and they all take pride in the hershey name. Reminds me of Disney! Same as the park itself, very clean and well maintained. THAT is why they are always busy. If it were nasty, I (and others) would travel the extra 20-30 minutes to the KOA or other nearby CG.
And if the train were truly a serious problem you and others would likely stay somewhere else as well.
However since the train is a non issue everyone enjoys themselves right where you are. - modern_familyExplorer

I'm sure they will suspend train traffic while you are staying there. :)
In Nebraska, there is a great little campground, except for the trains that come by every 15 minutes, hauling coal eastward.
They also have to blow the whistle, as there is a road crossing there. After a few days you don't even hear them, unless you are trying to talk.
Ironically, the campground owner is an engineer on one of these trains! I did learn an awful lot of "inside" information about trains by talking with him, while I was there. - johnwalkerpa1Explorer

I read all about the train which is why I selected a spot furthest from it. But man, it comes just about every 45 minutes!!! Does it ever stop? We are only here tonight and tomorrow night, but that is one busy rail line!
Yes, there is a lot of traffic on that line...the good news is that they (at least as far as I can recall) rarely blow the horns right there...that is what will make me jump at night :) - LantleyNomad

- MerrykaliaExplorerWe stayed in the same loop as Lantley - FHU sites to the right of the entrance road, and we were there for 3 nights. We had no problem with the trains. After the first few hours, it just became more white noise.
We turned on our AC and never heard it again. - LantleyNomadHonestly I never thought the train was that bad. I have been to Hershey several times and the train has not been an issue.
I have generally been in the 50 amp spots in the three loops to the right of the entrance Rd. - ChooChooMan74ExplorerThat is the reason why I didn't camp there. I want to get as far away from trains while not at work. A brother engineer stood there in his TC and told me it wasn't bad.
