Lincoln national forest charging for water?

I was looking at the national forest website and noticed they are charging for water. Anyone seen how they are doing this? I usually arrive late and fill up the tank on the way in.
  • Ok so got to silver overflow campground last night and they didn't charge me to fill the tank. And they are packed, not a single site open in the area except the Silver overflow. This morning the two hosts (Robert and Craig) got me into a site on Silver. They had a few trailers pull out early this morning. I guess I could just put a bucket out to catch all the rain if I need more water. :)
  • Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico:

Apache, Deerhead, Pines, and Saddle campgrounds have 5 gallons of free water, with a charge of $0.25 per gallon after that. I don't know how they meter usage or collect funds.

James Canyon, Lower Karr Canyon, Monjeau, Oak Grove, Skyline, and the Upper Karr Recreation Area campgrounds have no water.

All other campgrounds have potable water.
  • I've been there many times, they have running water that we could always get at the entrance. I just havent gotten up there this year yet.
  • Came across a park with no water at all. But you could buy a gallon from the park host for $5.00
  • Couldn't believe it so I looked up.
web page seems to have a lot of "The district is remote with little to no water available so please bring what you need and be safe"

Maybe you'll be lucky and be able to buy some?
