South Carolina State Parks and Hurricane

Please be aware that Governor Hailey has closed several state parks due to the upcoming threat of Hurricane Matthew. Myrtle Beach SP, Edisto SP, Hunting Island SP, Huntington Beach SP, Colleton SP and Givhans Ferry SP are all closed through the weekend.

    Yup, we left Edisto Beach State Park today. They are closing the park at 3pm today, locking the gates, killing all power and water to the park.

    We've been to most of those barrier island campgrounds in better times and they flood on a full/new moon high tide !

    I'm thinking my reservations at Edisto for early March might have to be revaluated.

    Those poor beach front sites at Hunting Island are going to be history.

    Edisto beach might have real problems... MB and Huntington might not fair much better.

    at Edisto we were 3 feet above high tide in February 2016 with good weather.

    was at all 3 last winter. month each.
