Jump Start Battery

Just get a second battery. Those jump start batteries are designed for a couple of starts and not for a continuous draw.

My PLAN B for off the power grid camping is to have a 2KW Honda Generator and B&D VEC1093DBD 40AMP smart mode portable charger.

I can start up my generator and plug in my portable B&D 40AMP battery charger and usually can jump start any car battery in 5 min of normal charge. The VEC1093DBD also has a 100AMP jump start output but I have never had to use that. Usually when someone runs down their battery I can bring it back enough to get their truck started in around 5 minutes of normal charge mode.

The second reason I have the portable smart mode charger is I can recharge mt trailer battery bank back up to its 90% charge state in around three hours of running the generator with the 40AMp charger plugged in.

I can also plug the trailer shore power cable into the 2KW generator 120VAC receptacle using a RV30A-15A adapter ans use the on-board smart mode converter/charger and recharge the battery bank back up to the 90% charge in a three hour generator run...

Pretty good PLAN B for me...

We installed a total of 4 batteries. Two for lights, pump,refrig and 12v outlets. The other two are for the heater but can be brought in to supplement the other two batteries if needed. For a while we had a 1000w honda generator very quiet that we would run at night when the heater was needed.

Just get a second battery and then to ensure the longest life possible and always topped off batterys (coming out of storage) get a small solar panel with good controller (30 to 50 watts should be more than plenty) as a maintainer

Those jump boxes are only 5% or 10% of the capacity of your existing battery. Good for jump starting the generator but not so much to keep the furnace going. If you have a group 24... go ahead and get two group 27. I get mine at Costco.

You have a pickup. Install 2 extra deep cycles in the back.

To answer your question, simply NO. No your idea will not work. As others have already stated, you won't have enough amp hours for the required voltage to run the furnace.

Why don't you invest in a Honda Eu2000 generator? I use a single one all the time on "Eco mode" (aka: super quiet) at campgrounds. I use it to run the furnace all night long in the winter. Not once have I had a neighboring camper ever tell me that they could even hear the generator.

Then again, I don't camp anywhere where we're all packed like sardines in the camp ground. I've even run the darn thing where there's generator noise rules. One state park ranger drove by my camp at night. I flagged him down and asked him if it would bother him that I'm running my Honda "after hours" (on the quiet mode). He suddenly turned off his car engine and strained his ear out his window. He paused.............paused.......... Then said, "if I can't hear it, you can run it." He ended with, "have a nice night" and he drove away.

But seriously, that might work better for you. I usually camp in the winter time where the temps are down in the "teens." Two 12-v batteries didn't work so well with the heater running literally all night. Also, sometimes we have the heater off and 120v electric blankets running instead. The Honda on Eco-mode just purrrrs like a kitten all night.

I already own two Honda 2000 generators and I know how quiet they are. Some National Parks have strict rules governing generator use and they do not care how quiet the generator is. It does not matter if there are only two campers in the park or 50. The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta was another trip where generator use was regulated. Solar will not help me when the generator has to be shut down at 8:00 pm. I was just wondering if one of those jump starters that advertise 1700 amps and indicate that they are AGM batteries inside would get us through the night on the rare occasion when we were without power.

X2. Personally I would invest in more battery power, ie, more amp hours.
