Raptor exterior speaker upgrade HELP!

Well, time has come for me to upgrade my exterior speakers. The factory crappers have been good, but time to upgrade.

I purchased these

They are kicker marine grade 6.5 and they have cool blue LED lights in them. I think they will add a nice touch and go along great with the LED strip lights I ordered, that came in last week.

The only problem I have is I need a 12 volt source to power the lights on my speakers.... Im probably going to have to cut holes in my cabinet, because the magnets are considerably larger that the factory speakers.

Does anyone have an idea on what I could use for a power source for the speaker lights? I'm kinda stumped on that one. It will be close to the tv and stereo power source. On the power source I would like to be able to switch it off so they don't draw on my batteries when im not plugged in.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Radio should have an accessory amp power output wire, that turns on and off with the radio. that output is weak, but it should be enough to run some LEDs.

If not, you could tap into your porch light switch, or the output of the led-strip controller.
  • I'll have to look and see if my stereo has an amp output wire. I bet it just has some rca plugs. It would be to far to run wires all the way to my led light strips. Those are going to be mounted on my frame rails, and im planning on putting a switch in my battery storage box for those. Hopefully ill have time to do a write up when I do it.

I had to cut the speaker holes a little bigger for them to fit. They are tucked right up under my awning, its kind of been a pain in the butt so far. Sure makes me nervous cutting on this thing. I made some gaskets to sandwich between the speakers and exterior wall and then sealed the******out of them with silicone.
