Almost joined the china bomb club.
The wife and I were on a week trip and pulled into an RV park for our 1st night. Got up the next morning and did a walk around the 5th wheel. I noticed the right rear tire looked different. The tread wear was basically flat around the tire except for a 1 foot section that was raised. It looked like it had 100+lbs of air in it. It was bulging somewhat and looked really over inflated, while the rest of the tire looked normal. Swapped it out for the spare figuring to save myself a potential blow out. We continued on to our next stop which was about 130 miles. Went to Les Schwab the next morning and had the spare swapped out to the aluminum rim and bought a new spare.
Not sure how long I towed the 5th with the tire like that as I look at them fairly often.
So after all my raving about ST GY Marathons I've become a believer that ST tires are trouble prone. I'll run my tires for the rest of the season which doesn't consist of too much traveling. Then try and figure out how to get some 16" LT tires installed. It's pretty tight between the tires with only about 2.5 " of space.
Tires are 3 year old Goodyear Marathons 225/75/15. Always ran at 65 psi and kept under 65 mph most of the time. I figure I have about 11-12,000 on them. The other 3 look great.
