Clunking Pullrite hitch

Call their customer support. They have great service. Gave me a free hitch plate when the dealer installed the wrong one - said "You already paid once, so we will give you the right one". (I stopped at the factor in Indiana). There are many different plates, so check with them as to the proper one you need.

The only time mine will do that is at around a 70 to 80 degree turn taking off.

Mine does that from time to time and it is normal. When making a turn starting off sometimes the turn angle will line up with the slots in the hitch and it will slam back instead of the slow slide back. I don't like it but it doesn't hurt anything.

That's was going to be my next question...what pin box are you using? There are universal and brand specific capture plates for the Superglide. I have a MorRyde and I had to order a specific capture plate.

Have you checked the capture plate? My pullrite came with a "universal" capture plate and there was side to side movement, which allowed it to twist. I do not know how loud or bad your hitch seems, but I also had that problem. Had them weld two angle irons one on either side, I now have about an 1/8" gap on either side! I also replaced the adjustment bolt on the front of the capture plate after stripping the original trying to correct the problem. My Pullrite is quite as a church mouse, and is perfect!

I fixed the problem by selling my pullrite and got a B&W. Problem solved

I have this same problem, 2015 Forest River 262RGX, Pullright 18K Slider Hitch, everything brand new, Tech finds no problem, I will have him go for a ride. No banging, just slams like its sliding on rails and then is fine till next stop.

I did a little measurements between the roller and the slot cam. I have between .070" and .125" depending on where I take the measurement. This is with a new roller which is .005" larger than the old one. The hitch is a couple years old and has about 6,000 miles on it. I do not see any mushrooming on the cam slot metal. The feeling when driving is a sudden loss of trailer weight for a split second and then a loud bang. I will try to tape my camera to the tool box and get a good video of it. Pullrite and my manual said to set the turn table nut so the turn table has a lot of resistence. The tech said is should be very hard to turn off the cam and it is. Thanks for your reply.

You might want to check the roller at the rear of the carrier arm, and the slot it rides in. Could be the roller does not rotate freely for some reason and binds up. Or the slot is worn and has too much clearance. This can happen due to a lot of use and normal wear. Or if the roller doesn't roll smoothly and freely. If the slot wears, you will notice the edges of the slot is raised a bit. This is where the material "rolls" or "mushrooms".

If you have wide clearance between the roller and the slot, then the carrier arm cam tilt forward or backwards at times. And in severe conditions could cause a bang.

How old is your hitch. And has it been used a lot? Newer hitches should not have this problem. But older ones that have a lot of miles could.

Mine has about 30,000 miles on it. Bought it in 2006. The slot has a clearance of about .020 to .050" in some areas. There is a little carrier arm tilt. But not a loud clanging yet. But I can feel a little movement.
