Hot brake drum
One of my brake drums (shoe and drum type) gets much hotter than the other 3 drums.....why is thus? What temp is too hot? Thks

BTDT.- I am thinking this is a trailer we're talking about if not disregard. We had one do this and upon pulling the hub I found the pivot for the brake magnet arm was almost seized. when the brakes applied it would not totally disengage the shoes. The others mentioned above could also be it.
- Check the magnit on the other side. If it goes bad it will through all the power to the other wheel

- Grease on the brakes from using EZ lube will cause one wheel to get very hot.
- OR, the other 3 brakes are not working or adjusted improperly. Not likely but stuff happens
- Get the brakes checked out by a mechanic if you are noticing a problem. We never noticed a problem until one day we were driving down the road, and I smelled something hot. About 5 minutes later, I saw smoke coming up on the driver side, when we stopped at a red lite. The brake calipers seized up and the grease or fluid in there caught fire.
- What is the temperature difference and we can better diagnose?
- Either the brakes are dragging or possibly a bad bearing. :)
- They should all run close to the same temp. If one is hotter than the others, check for proper adjustment, sticking shoes/calipers or bad bearings.
