How important is it to access the bed with slides closed?

rhagfo... We love ours. We have been on the road since 2-2015, and the layout has been perfect for us. Here is a pic of our bedroom area. We have a Splendide, and the split bath we have always liked. Tons of clothes storage, though, I have realized since we hit the road, we do not need as many clothes as suspected, and gladly give up 1/2 the closet area to have my w/d. Love your Copper Canyon too!

I/we love the space we have not only in the kitchen, but in the bedroom the available space for cloths is very large. Mentioned before 8' flat floor closet across the front. Then these drawers,


The door is the toilet, the drawers and small door are more cloths storage, and cabinets behind in the toilet space.



Then there is the Kitchen!!!!

With the slide/s "in" can you access the bathroom?

For us - the bedroom slide must be at least partially out to access the front closet and the dresser drawers - Bathroom is no problem.

For that "too tight" spot at a rest stop or truck stop, a recliner would do for a quick nap/"snoose" (snooze?) - and usually anyplace with spaces that tight sure wouldn't be conducive to snoozing due to continual in/out traffic - kinda like parking next to RR tracks..:(

Primary consideration should be:
Access to the bathroom and fridge with slides *in*.

BTW - if you plan on "camping" in a hurricane, ice/hail storms,
you need a steel cargo container - or something with a *real* basement, not an RV..:R

Also - time to re-think your travel plans, ROTFL...:S

And how many times have you pushed slides when frozen? Yep, just as I thot, never. That is why I wrote what I did. Only YOU know how you will use yours. Because I use mine different than you doesn't make it right or wrong when I have a requirement that you don't.

Totally respectfully disagree. I know you are a very experienced camper and this is not your 1st rodeo but there needs to be some consideration given to access with slides in.
Slide access is not the sole deciding factor but it may make the difference between 2 models.
Being able to operate with slides in has advantages.
Sure there are time when it won't matter.
But there will also be times where being able to turtle will be prudent.
I have 5 slides and decent access to everything except fridge.
Not a deal breaker but there are some newer Open Range models with 4--5 slides and no bathroom access, which is a deal breaker.
To buy a rig and ignore the slide access issue would be a mistake.

Non-issue for us with the Wildcat. We could still open the BR door and throw our clothing on the bed. Well, I did, but DW stopped me and said it was to be "placed neatly" on the bed. Can't do that with the Montana without opening slides. Will place clean clothes neatly in a laundry basket for transfer after setting up.

While many see this little issue as a deal breaker, way too many other positives to the floor plan the write it off for that.
Huge kitchen, yer similar to ours, I just measured ours and we have 15 sq. ft. of open counter space useable 100 percent of the time! This doesn't include closed stove top or a filled in sink.
In addition huge Master Suite, not 8" on each side of the bed, large space on the shower side and roomy.
Full 8' closet and large Chet of drawers at foot of bed four large drawers and three smaller.

We find this general floor plan very livable, worried about no aces so refer with slide in, we need to climb over the counter to access the kitchen area, would not trade access to it with slides in, as the great expance of counter space.
The Everest has a drop down table leaf to allow you to squeeze through.
We don't live in our 5er with the slides in, we only tow and store with the slides in, living is done with slides out!

This floor plan rocks! We have a 1.8cu ft fridge that is a beverage only fridge. We changed out the dinette for an ikea, fold down desk, that has room for my sewing and crafting supplies, or a place to work on the Mac Book ( scanning, printing, etc ). It can also be opened to be very large for puzzles and stuff on rainy days, though we have yet to do that. The desk isn't as deep as the dinette, so I can acess the kitchen with the slides in.
We changed the living room area to a tv console, across from 2 lazy boys, and use the old television area as food pantry.
When we travel, we keep a cooler in the truck and car, so, no need to access the fridge anyways. If we stop for lunch, we have never been in a position to not be able to open the slides, so, it's a non issue.
We upgraded the fridge to a 10cu ft Norcold, that fit the same area as our old, little Dometic. Love the counter space. I cook more now since I retired, since I love cooking, and now I actually have the time to do it.
It is perfect for us, which is all that matters. We are considering going back to a DP, and I am already getting sad thinking of losing this floorplan.
