how often do the pipes and stuff get tore up under the rig while driving ? Is there a way to strengthen the PVC ? What about protecting form freezing ?

I have a common drain header.....black/grey/galley all tie into this

Waste tanks were almost full (we planned on dumping at next CG)

Drivers side front axle tire BLEW---thread separated and wiped out drain header.

Emptied tanks in about 4 seconds on I-35 south of Wichita KS

That is the ONLY time in 40 plus years of camping/RV ever had that happen

Just curious - what insurance covers this? Basic coverage on the 5th? Or, is there any?

I've heard just enough stories of tires blowing apart and wrecking trailers that I'm starting to worry. I talked to another customer at my dealer and he had a tire blow through the floor and ruin his kitchen cabinets!

    Tire was a Goodyear G614
Goodyear covered the damage and new tire
Had to keep old carcass/file claim...they made arrangements to get tire carcass delivered then after inspection they determined tire failed

  • What unit do you have? Most have enclosed tanks now. Some Arabs use electric tank heaters and some use the propane furnace to send warm air down to the tank area. Your answer will depend on what you have.

In all the years I have used RV's, be it trailer to Class A, I have never had an issue with pipes getting ripped or tore up. Even with blow outs, I was always fortunate not to rupture pipes of any kind. Now if you run over stumps and all that, sure you are going to rip the gozulla out of things

Freezing? Different direction. I have seen people with heat tape wrapped with insulation, to hay around the RV with heatlamp light bulbs shining on most if not all of the exposed pipes. My only experience with frozen pipes was on a class A and the elevated water pipes, in a compartment where behind the fridge froze and burst the special pvc pipes at the time. Now PEX is the standard and less prone to bursting. ABS, which is sewer, heat tape is the idea I have witnessed on more than one instance. Creativity is the key!
